One Dead In Gainesville Home Invasion Shooting

One person is dead following a shooting at a home in Gainesville late Wednesday night.

The Gainesville Police Department believes two black males came into the residence wearing masks and began firing shots.

Antonio Mason, 36, died of gunshot wounds to the torso. Mason was holding an infant female when he was shot in the arm. Another 21-year-old male whom police have not named suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. Both the infant and second male were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled before police arrived, less than a minute later. Investigators are still trying to find leads on the suspects. Call 352-393-7670 if you have information.

Spokesman Ben Tobias wrote in a news release, "What kind of person can point a gun at a father holding an infant and make the barbaric decision to pull that trigger?"
