Woman's body found in trunk of abandoned car in Palm Bay

PALM BAY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a woman's body was found in the trunk of an abandoned car in Palm Bay.

According to local news agencies, Palm Bay police say the body was discovered Tuesday morning. When officers arrived, they saw the trunk was ajar and found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 20s, inside.

Police say a surveillance video shows a man leaving the area where the victim was found.

Palm Bay police spokesman Sgt. Michael Pusatere says the car had been parked there since Monday afternoon. Pusatere says investigators aren't sure if the person who dropped off the car is the same person responsible for the woman's death.

The victim's identity hasn't been released.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
