UF seniors took over The Wooly, located at 20 N. Main St., on Friday night during their senior thesis art show “Closing Up Shop.”
Seniors Ashlyn Diaz, Cecilia Angeles, Dessarae Bassil, Jessica Pondo, Kelley Hernandez, Lianna Zaragoza, Raimy Engel and Wes Riley had their artwork displayed at the event.
Angeles, 24, displayed pieces she said she created by overlapping shapes, layering different colors and working intuitively. Angeles was inspired by Peruvian culture and childhood memories.
“The colors remind me of costumes people wear in the culture of Peru,” Angeles said.
She worked 5 hours a day for a month to prepare for the art show.
“I like seeing what people think about it without me telling them.”
After graduating, Angeles plans on collaborating with her mother, an artist, and then wants to move to Belgium to work on art projects with her father who resides there.
“I was born with pencils in my hands,” Angeles said.
