A car lay crushed beneath the tree that fell Thursday afternoon on W. University Avenue near NW 27th Avenue. The woman driving the vehicle was heading westbound and became trapped inside, but was extracted by rescue workers and taken to Shands hospital in non-critical condition.

Well-known Gainesville pizza restaurant, Satchel's Pizza, reopened Friday after a fire destroyed it's salvage shop. The store opened at 11 a.m. and sold salvageable souvenirs and accepted donations for charred T-shirts and bandannas that had survived the fire.
