Sentence handed down in 1990 attack on student
A man will now spend his life in prison for the kidnapping and rape of a University of Florida student in 1990. State Attorneys Office of the 8th Judicial Circuit Chief Investigator Spencer Mann says 50-year old Kelvin Miles has been convicted for two consecutive life terms.
He says Miles will be transported to the Florida Department of Corrections, where he will spend the rest of his natural life.

The Community Redevelopment Agency plans to break ground next year on NW First Avenue, the street a block north of University Avenue bordering the businesses in Midtown.
The CRA board approved the project Sept. 15, which is halfway through the design phase, to move forward with the final steps before construction.
