U.S. Secretary of Agriculture brings President’s “blueprint for America” message to Gainesville

“Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food,”….that’s the topic U.S. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan is bringing to Gainesville. Merrigan was scheduled to speak at 5:45 Thursday afternoon at the Straughn Extension Professional Development Center. Florida’s 89.1, WUFT-FM’s Kelsey Diaz spoke with Merrigan earlier this afernoon about the Secretary’s message which ties to President Barack Obama’s “Blueprint for an America built to last” initiative.

Improved Cuban Relations Could Spawn Changes For Economy and Research

Being only 90 miles away from Cuba, Floridians have felt closer than ever to their neighbor since relations between the island and the United States have improved. Researchers feel that if the U.S. ends the embargo against Cuba it will impact several areas, including the economy and environmental research.
