Marion County school district satisfied with bus safety protocol following Friday fight

A brawl in the back of a Marion County school bus has left seven teens on home detention. Public Schools Spokesman Kevin Christian says those children may not wind up back in their original school.

Seven students are charged with felony battery and disorderly conduct for beating a 13-year-old girl unconscious on a school bus Friday. Christian says the school district's bus safety plan worked very effectively.

He says the district can only do so much, but sometimes students will bring aggression from home and lash out on their peers. He says cases like this can result in students losing their bus privileges in addition to alternate school placement, but it will take a few weeks for the whole situation to be resolved.
