Planetarium Awareness Week is giving the community a chance to experience a unique feature at Santa Fe College. WUFT-FM’s Keaton Webb says this week-long tradition will let people relax under the stars.
Planetarium coordinator James Albury says many area residents did not even know Santa Fe has a planetarium. Planetarium Awareness week lasts through December 15th.

The Hoggetowne Medieval Faire will feature merchants and artisans beginning on Saturday to deliver what one man calls a truly magical and authentic experience. The Faire will take place at the Alachua County Fairgrounds on Jan. 24 through 25 and Jan. 30 through Feb. 1.
Local artisan Bob Walker plans to sell his lifelike puppets at the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire in Gainesville on Saturday. He and his team, Midsummer Knight’s Dream, make and sell these “Woodbabies” at various fairs throughout the year.
By making art on license plates, elementary school students flex their creative muscles while raising money for their schools’ art programs.
Edible Plant Project is a nursery in Gainesville that provides seeds and plants for people to grow. Some of their plants come from foreign countries. EPP most recently decided to provide cooking classes, so that people could learn about these plants and their special uses. EPP sells plants at the Union Street Farmers’ Market every second Wednesday of the month.
Hawthorne will host its annual Christmas Festival and parade on Saturday, and President of Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce Donna Boles is working to finish the yearly planning.
