More opportunities for holiday shoppers this year

Retailers are bringing in the holiday shopping season early this year. Stores like Macy’s and Target open at midnight Thanksgiving Day to extend Black Friday shopping hours. Other retailers are running early sales and bringing back layaway. UF Marketing Professor Barton Weitz says retailers are targeting a certain type of shopper.

Weitz says this is especially true for local retailers, because Florida’s economy trails behind the U.S. economy.
